Wenxin Road Section 3 cuts straight through the middle of the neighbourhood, with the elevated MRT Green Line running overhead, and Wenxin Yinghua Station sits right at the corner with Yinghua Road. The southwestern corner of the neighbourhood borders Qiqi, but this side is all residential lanes and markets. In the morning you can shop for groceries at Hecuo Market on Sichuan Road, and in the evening there's Huamei Evening Market as well.
For public transportation, this neighbourhood ranks 3rd out of Taichung's 32 neighbourhoods, and 4th for everyday convenience. There are two MRT stations right in the neighbourhood, Wenxin Yinghua and Wenhua High School, and City Hall Station is less than 100 metres outside the southwestern corner. Wenxin Yinghua Station is also where you can transfer to buses heading to Fengjia. Healthcare ranks 6th, so seeing a doctor is easy. Everything from elementary to high school is right here: Hecuo Elementary School, Daren Elementary School, Hankou Junior High School, and Wenhua High School.
Taiwan Boulevard, which forms the southern border, is Taichung's busiest arterial road, and the intersections around Wenxin Road and Henan Road often get jammed during rush hour. In street-view photo rankings, cleanliness comes in at 30th and greenery at 28th, both near the bottom among the 32 neighbourhoods.
Hecuo is an old place name in southeastern Xitun; from the late Qing dynasty through the early Japanese colonial period it was called Hecuo Village, and in 1920 it was renamed Hecuo Oaza. In its early days this was a settlement of the Ho clan, and even today plenty of families surnamed Ho still live in the area. The Wang Ye deity worshipped at the village temple, Fushou Temple, had its spirit divided from Fushun Temple in Shuiligang during the Xianfeng era, and whenever Wanhe Temple's Laoerma Mazu makes her procession back to Xitun to visit her family, she always stops here. Wenhua High School was established in 1989, while Hecuo Elementary School wasn't founded until 1993. Wenxin Yinghua Station officially opened on 25 April 2021.
The MRT Blue Line will run along Taiwan Boulevard on the southern side of the neighbourhood; its overall plan was approved by the Executive Yuan in January 2024, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2025. The Blue Line will link up with City Hall, crossing the Green Line there to form a cross-shaped network, and the Green Line's City Hall Station sits just outside the southwestern corner of this neighbourhood. The city government expects completion by 2034.
