Residential streets north of the Science Museum, home to Jianxing Village, the most populous village in North District
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
This is the residential area north of the Science Museum. Property listings call it the "Science Museum neighborhood", though the museum itself sits next door to the south, in Dangou Village, outside this neighborhood. Plenty of people live here: Jianxing Village has the largest registered population in North District, 7,546 people at the end of 2025, and Jianxing, Mingde and Mingxin villages together have about 16,000. Zhongming Road cuts diagonally through the middle, four lanes in total with a landscaped median; about 2.4 kilometers of it lies inside the neighborhood. For school, Jianxing Elementary School and Zhonghua Elementary School are both inside the neighborhood.
Jianxing Road, outside the gate of Jianxing Elementary School, was only finished being rebuilt in December 2025; together with Lane 864 the work covers about 1.3 kilometers. The project removed one pedestrian overpass and four underpasses and widened the sidewalks to 2.5 meters. Going by street photos, sidewalks here rank 12th of Taichung's 47 neighborhoods. Seeing a doctor is easy too: healthcare ranks 2nd.
There is no MRT station in the neighborhood. The nearest, Green Line Wenhua Senior High School Station and Wenxin Zhongqing Station, are both a little over 700 meters from its edge, and public transport ranks 27th. The names are easy to mix up: the "Zhongming" here is Zhongming Road, which runs through the neighborhood. Zhongming Elementary School is on the other side of Mayuantou Creek, in Zhongcheng Village, West District, and belongs to a different neighborhood, "Taiwan Blvd North / Zhongming Elementary".
Mayuantou Creek runs along the west side of the neighborhood; together with the Lyuchuan River, the Meichuan River and the Liuchuan River, it is one of the four rivers of downtown Taichung, and its name comes from the old place name Mayuantou.
Before land readjustment, Mingde and Mingxin villages were suburban land with large, irregular plots. From February 1979 to August 1980, the city carried out the 4th Redevelopment Zone (Zhongzheng–Dongshan) here, and about 99% of both villages fell inside it. Jianxing Village was not part of any redevelopment zone.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
