Everyday life here

Taichung No. 2 High's main gate opens onto Yingshi Road, and this plot of land has been a school site ever since 1941, when it was Taichung Prefectural Taichung Second Higher Girls' School. South of the campus is Yingshi Park, and next door at No. 243 Wuquan Road sits Guangda Housing Complex, home to more than 700 households. Heading northeast into Guangda Village, the area around Wuyi Street is the stall district of Dongxing Market.

Before you move in

This neighborhood covers only about 43 hectares and is sampled with just 34 grid cells, so its rankings should be taken only as a rough reference. There's no train station within the neighborhood itself; the nearest is TRA Taichung Station, about 1.4 km away, and it ranks 34th for public transit.

No real estate platform treats this patch as its own neighborhood: 5168's Science Museum neighborhood roughly draws its line at Yingcai Road, while 591 files its listing page for Guangda Housing Complex under "Science Museum." This neighborhood's name is taken from the two things inside it that give it its character: Taichung No. 2 High and Guangda Housing Complex.

The story of this area

In 1926, under the Japanese colonial era's town-name reform, Meizhi-cho was established, covering roughly today's Yuanzi Street, Zhongzheng Road, Wuquan Road, and Taiping Road area; the site of Dongxing Market was originally a crematorium. Taichung No. 2 High was founded in 1922, and after the war, in 1946, it merged with the Second Girls' High School and reopened on that school's campus—which is today's campus; in 2017 it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Taichung City Government.

How are these measured?

Compared against the Taichung neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
