Here, Section 4 of Taiwan Boulevard is a wide main road, lined mostly with apartment complexes built over the past twenty-odd years. North of the road are Yong'an Elementary School, JMall, and Carrefour, while south of the road are Fu'an Market and Anhe Junior High School. Zhonggang Bus Station is also on the south side, where intercity coaches heading north and south pick up and drop off passengers.
For everyday shopping, this neighbourhood ranks 5th among Taichung's 32 neighbourhoods, with a hypermarket and a traditional market right here. It ranks 7th for street environment and greenery, and 8th for the buildings seen in street-view photos, giving it a tidy look. If you need to catch an intercity coach to Taipei or Kaohsiung, Zhonggang Bus Station is right in the neighbourhood. Kids can go to school at Yong'an Elementary School, Fuke Junior High School, or Anhe Junior High School. Head west past the neighbourhood boundary and you'll reach Taichung Veterans General Hospital and Tunghai University.
Public transport only ranks 28th, and the nearest MRT stop, Municipal Government Station, is about 2.3 km from the edge of the neighbourhood. Daily convenience ranks 22nd, putting it in the lower-middle range among Taichung's 32 neighbourhoods. Both Taiwan Boulevard and Xitun Road to the north get congested at peak times, so give yourself extra time for commuting. Despite the name, the Central Taiwan Science Park itself isn't in this neighbourhood — it's further north, on the border of Xitun and Daya.
This area's old name was Shuikutou, covering what are today the li of Yong'an, Fu'an, Fuya, Fulin, Fuhe, and Fuzhong. In 1917, the predecessor of Yong'an Elementary School, the Shuikutou branch school, began holding classes inside Yong'an Temple, and only moved to its current site in 1922. Taiwan Boulevard, which runs through the middle of the neighbourhood, was named Taichung Harbor Road in 1960, widened into a 50-metre, eight-lane road in the 1970s, and had its street signs changed to Taiwan Boulevard in July 2012. In July 2003, the Taichung Park of the Central Taiwan Science Park opened to businesses moving in. In 2005, Ubus moved its bus station from Chaoma to this side of town, becoming today's Zhonggang Bus Station.
Section 4 of Taiwan Boulevard runs through the middle of this neighbourhood, and it's this very road that the planned MRT Blue Line will follow. The Blue Line's comprehensive plan was approved by the Executive Yuan in January 2024, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2025, and the city government expects it to be completed by 2034. The exact locations of the stations haven't been announced yet.
