Touqian replotting zone and the homes between Xingfu and Touqianzhuang stations
Touqianzhuang Station sits at the junction of Zhongzheng Road and Siyuan Road in Xinzhuang, and is where the Xinzhuang Line and the Circular Line meet. Right next to the station is the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taipei Hospital. One stop north on the Circular Line is Xingfu Station, which is also within this neighbourhood. Heading west from Xingfu Station across Siyuan Road, the Xingfu Road area has grown into a new commercial district.
This neighbourhood has two MRT stations, Touqianzhuang and Xingfu. For transport, it ranks 14th out of New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, placing it in the upper half. For cleanliness, it ranks 9th out of New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, and the streets are generally tidy. The two lines can be transferred within Touqianzhuang Station itself, without needing to exit. Touqian Road is a 40-metre-wide tree-lined boulevard that runs straight through the Touqian Land Readjustment Zone all the way to the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park by the river.
The eastern side of the neighbourhood borders directly on an industrial area. For medical care, it ranks 27th out of New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, putting it in the middle of the pack; that said, the Ministry of Health and Welfare Taipei Hospital is right within the neighbourhood on Siyuan Road. For everyday meals and shopping, you'll often need to cross Siyuan Road to the Xingfu Road commercial area to the west, just outside the neighbourhood.
From the late Qing dynasty through the early Japanese colonial period, the Touqian area was a street-village called Touqianzhuang, which is where the MRT station gets its name. Huacheng Road within the neighbourhood is named in memory of the Qing-dynasty general Chen Huacheng. Near the end of World War II, the Governor-General's Office relocated factories from Taipei City to Xinzhuang, marking the start of Xinzhuang's industrial development. After the war, the Touqian Industrial Park was established on Huacheng Road, becoming one of the turning points in Xinzhuang's transformation into an industrial city. The Xinzhuang Line opened in January 2012, bringing Touqianzhuang Station into service, and the Circular Line followed in January 2020. Entering the 21st century, with the development of the Touqian Land Readjustment Zone and the Xinzhuang Secondary Urban Center, Xinzhuang has transformed into a secondary urban hub and office cluster within the metropolitan area.
