01First impressions

The stretch from Siwei Road to Hougang 1st Road is a complete shopping area in its own right, and two of Xinzhuang's main traditional markets are inside this neighborhood: Siwei Market and Yumin Market. A 2026 property report describes everything from hypermarkets and traditional markets to clinics and pharmacies here, all within walking or cycling distance for residents.

Siwei Market is tucked into a lane off Siwei Road, and Yumin Market is on Xinya Lane off Zhongzheng Road. The same report says the area is mainly owner-occupied, the typical home is a lift building twenty to thirty years old, and parking spaces are relatively scarce.

02What works

Daily shopping ranks 30th among New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods and healthcare ranks 27th, both in the upper tier. You walk to the market for groceries and to a nearby clinic to see a doctor, with no need to drive day to day.

Primary schools are split between two catchments: Yumin Elementary School takes Yumin, Wan'an, Long'an, Nangang, Fuguo and other villages; Min'an Elementary School takes Hougang, Bade, Houde, Chengde and other villages; and Siwei Village is divided between the two. Yumin Elementary School is on Yumin Street, inside this neighborhood; Min'an Elementary School is on Min'an Road, outside it.

03Heads-up

Going by our street-view photos, sidewalks rank 80th among New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods, the weakest category for this neighborhood.

Public transport ranks 51st, toward the lower end of the middle tier. Danfeng Station is not inside this neighborhood; Fuguo, Wan'an and Houde villages border the villages the station sits beside, and buses run along Hougang 1st Road to Siwei Road.

04A bit of history

Although Min'an Elementary School is outside this neighborhood, it is the catchment school for the Hougang and Bade area. It was founded in 1919 as the Xisheng Branch School, became the Min'an Branch School on its current site in 1950, and became independent in 1961.

By 1988, Min'an Elementary School had more than 190 classes and over ten thousand pupils. In 1991 the catchments were redrawn and some pupils were moved to the newly founded Yumin Elementary School.

Yumin Elementary School was founded in 1989; when it began taking pupils in 1990, it borrowed buildings at Danfeng and Min'an elementary schools, and only from 1992 were all classes held on its own campus. Min'an Elementary School was rebuilt from 2018 to 2020, and its new classroom building and gymnasium were completed in 2020.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
