Cailiao station and Zhongxin Rd, around the district office and the hospital

Local guide

01First impressions

Cailiao Station sits underground on Chongxin Road Section 3, in what is Sanchong's administrative hub. Around the station you'll find the Sanchong District Administration Building, New Taipei Municipal United Hospital's Sanchong Branch, and Guozhen Park, while Zhongshan Art Park isn't far from the station either.

02What works

Seeing a doctor is easy here — healthcare ranks 3rd among New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, and the United Hospital's Sanchong Branch is right next to Cailiao Station. The branch's emergency and critical care building opened in December 2015. Greenery ranks 8th, with Zhongshan Art Park and Guozhen Park giving you places for a daily stroll. North of Cailiao Station there's also the Sanchong Sports Complex, which has a 400-metre track and hosted women's football matches during the 2017 Summer Universiade.

03Heads-up

Chongxin Road runs right through the heart of Sanchong and is one of the most important roads connecting Xinzhuang and Taipei, with the MRT Zhonghe-Xinlu Line running right beneath its surface. This neighbourhood only has one MRT station, Cailiao Station, so transport ranks 15th among New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods — a mid-range spot. Taipei Bridge Station and Sanchong Station both belong to neighbouring areas, not this one. This neighbourhood spans several elementary school zones including Sanguang, Xiude, and Guangxing, so when house-hunting, check the school zone by address.

04A bit of history

The name Cailiao goes way back — this area was already called Cailiao before Sanchong was even known as Sanchongpu. In the early days there were many vegetable gardens here, and farmers built thatched huts in their plots, which is how the name came about. Cailiao Station also has a secondary name: "New Taipei Municipal Hospital". The station opened in January 2012 along with the Xinzhuang Line. In the southeast of this neighbourhood, next to Guangxing Elementary School, lies the old military dependents' village site of Air Force Sanchong Village No. 1, which opened to the public in November 2018 and is now the New Taipei Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighbourhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
