01First impressions

Xinzhuang Sports Park covers 22 hectares, with an athletics track, a baseball stadium, the Xinzhuang Civil Sports Center and four children's parks. The sports centre has a swimming pool and a gym, so living in this neighborhood, swimming, running and taking the kids out to burn off energy all happen in the same park.

West of the park, Xintai Elementary School is at No. 91 Gongyuan 1st Road, next to Xintai Park, with Xintai Junior High School a short way north. This neighborhood also has a Carrefour supermarket, about 130 metres from Xintai Elementary School.

02What works

Healthcare ranks 12th among New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods, in the upper tier. Everyday shopping ranks 27th, in the upper tier, and the Carrefour in this neighborhood covers the daily basics.

For the school run, Xintai Elementary School's catchment covers all of Litai and Liyan villages, plus lin (neighborhood units) 9–17 of Lide Village and some of the lin in Zhongxiao Village. All four villages in this neighborhood are at least partly in the catchment; the rest of Lide and Zhongxiao belong to Xinzhuang Elementary School or Guotai Elementary School.

03Heads-up

Public transport ranks 62nd among New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods, towards the lower end. There is no MRT station in this neighborhood; the nearest, Xinzhuang Station, is just outside, about a ten-minute walk from the baseball stadium.

Property news reports also warn that the area around the sports park was developed early, with too little parking planned and narrow lanes, so parking is awkward. In our street photos, greenery ranks 93rd, in the lower tier.

04A bit of history

Xintai Elementary School's land was set aside as the planned site for the sixth elementary school in Xinzhuang's 1973 urban plan, and was expropriated in 1988. The school took its first pupils in 1991: years two to six were transferred from Zhonggang and Guotai elementary schools, and it enrolled its own first year, 27 classes in all.

Five years after the school opened, work began on Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium to the east in 1996, and it opened in 1997. In November 2017 the city government contracted the stadium out to Fubon for a 10-year term, and the Fubon Guardians have made it their home ground ever since.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
