Jimei Elementary school area around Jimei St, a quiet educational neighbourhood

Local guide

01First impressions

Jimei Street is the prime residential area within Sanzhong, home to Sanzhong Municipal Senior High School, Jimei Elementary School, Meigui Park, and the Sanzhong Social Education Center. The whole neighbourhood is basically the catchment area for Jimei Elementary School. The Sanzhong Sports Center is also in this area, and the Social Education Center is right on Jimei Street. Sanzhong Station sits on the west side of the neighbourhood, where the Xinzhuang Line and the Airport Line meet.

02What works

For daily shopping, this neighbourhood ranks 4th out of New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods—you don't have to go far for groceries or meals. It ranks 5th for sidewalks, so walking to school or going for a stroll is comfortable. Meigui Park has a greenhouse botanical garden, and the Sanzhong Social Education Center regularly hosts exhibitions, plays and concerts. Cross Shuiyang Road to the west and you're at the Erchong Floodway, part of the New Taipei Metropolitan Park, which has a 20-kilometre loop cycling path.

03Heads-up

Although Sanzhong Station serves two lines, it sits on the western edge of the neighbourhood, east of the Erchong Floodway—not in the heart of old Sanzhongpu. Taipei City Hospital's Sanzhong Branch and the Sanzhong District Office are next door in the Cailiao neighbourhood to the east, not within this neighbourhood. The major hospital within this neighbourhood is Hongren Hospital, right by Sanzhong Station, which only moved here from Sanhe Road in January 2024.

04A bit of history

When the Airport MRT was being planned, Sanzhong Station was originally slated to be called 'Fuyin,' after Fuyin Street, the old name for the MRT's route. Later, the Airport Line adopted the same station name as the Xinzhuang Line, so even though this spot isn't in the heart of old Sanzhongpu, it's still called Sanzhong Station. The Xinzhuang Line opened in January 2012, and the Airport Line followed in March 2017. The Erchong Floodway to the west of the neighbourhood is about 7.7 kilometres long, completed in 1984, and was later developed into the New Taipei Metropolitan Park.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighbourhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
