Living in a bend of the Dahan River, where walks and bike rides head for the riverside wetlands
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Fuzhou is in the southwest corner of Banqiao, with the Dahan River curving like a bow around its northwest side; walk towards the river and you reach the Fuzhou Constructed Wetland. Real-estate listings describe the riverside as having large wetlands, bike paths and ball courts, an open space by the water that is rare in Banqiao.
The same listings say the people living here are mainly office workers who commute by Taiwan Railway, staff and students of National Taiwan University of Arts, and residents of the Fuzhou affordable housing. National Taiwan University of Arts is on Daguan Road, and the affordable housing is around Heyi 1st Road in the south of this neighborhood.
To get around, take the train from Fuzhou Station, an elevated station opened in 2011; Banqiao is just one stop away, about 2.5 kilometres.
Greenery ranks 19th out of 100 neighborhoods in New Taipei, in the upper tier. Besides the riverside wetlands, this neighborhood also has Fuzhou Sports Park and Fuzhou Qinmin Park.
Schooling is simple, as this neighborhood takes in two adjacent elementary school catchments: Daguan Elementary School serves Fuzhou, Qiaozhong, Daguan, Huazhong and Huanyuan villages, and Zhongshan Elementary School serves Fu'an, Long'an, Fuxing, Ju'an, Zhongshan and Da'an villages.
Everyday shopping ranks 56th out of 100 neighborhoods in New Taipei, toward the lower end of the middle tier. Healthcare ranks 57th, also toward the lower end of the middle tier.
Fuzhou Station is a small Taiwan Railway stop served only by local trains, not an MRT station. Public transit ranks 47th; to change to the MRT you first ride one stop to Banqiao, or take community bus 585 to Fuzhong Station.
In our street photos, sidewalks rank 57th, toward the lower end of the middle tier. The affordable housing includes more than 400 rental flats, and the New Taipei City Urban and Rural Development Department says the current leases start expiring from mid-2028.
Stations on this site at Fuzhou have come and gone: in 1932 a temporary stop served only by petrol railcars opened and was closed after the war, and in 1953 a request stop was set up again.
After Typhoon Gloria devastated the area and it fell into decline, the request stop was closed again in 1967. The current elevated station only opened on 2 September 2011.
On 21 July 2023, the New Taipei City Urban Planning Commission approved the comprehensive review of Fuzhou's urban plan, which covers 278.5 hectares. Two strategic renewal areas totalling 2.77 hectares were marked out south of Fuzhou Station, where public-sector-led urban renewal is meant to spur renewal around them.
Zone expropriation covers about 100.91 hectares and keeps a 30-metre corridor for the planned Taishan–Banqiao Light Rail; existing homes on Lanes 28 and 29 of Daguan Road Section 1 are left out. At the time the plan still had to go to the Ministry of the Interior for review, and no completion date was given.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
