Coming from the Nanqu side by NCHU, you cross Guoguang Bridge; below the bridge is the old Hanxi Creek, and once you're across you're in Dali. Guoguang Road Section 2 runs along the south-west edge of this neighbourhood; Yonglong Village is a new community from the second phase of land readjustment, with houses lined up one after another and wide roads. Heading west along the riverbank, the stretch between Jishan Bridge and Guoguang Bridge is Kangqiao Waterside Park, and across Hanxi Creek you can see the NCHU campus.
For greenery, this neighbourhood ranks 17th out of Taichung's 32 neighbourhoods, and for pavements it ranks 18th — both mid-table. Kangqiao Waterside Park has a bike path and a constructed wetland, so you can stroll or cycle there. For schooling there's Yonglong Elementary School, Chongguang Elementary School and Shuangwen Junior High School. There's also a Dabuy Guoguang store within the neighbourhood, in Daming Village.
For everyday convenience this neighbourhood ranks 28th, and for daily shopping 27th — both towards the lower end among Taichung's 32 neighbourhoods. There's no rail station within the neighbourhood; the nearest is Taichung Railway Station, 1.4 km away, and for public transit it ranks 25th. The District Office, Guoguang Flower Market and NCHU Affiliated Senior High School are all to the south-west in Guoguang Village, which actually belongs to the neighbouring Dali Downtown neighbourhood; National Chung Hsing University itself sits across Guoguang Bridge.
During the Qing dynasty, this area belonged to Liangsanshu Village, made up of Jiuzhuang, Dongshiwei, Xidi and Niaozhuwei — today's Shuwang, Xiangxing, Dongxing, Yonglong and Daming Villages. In the late Japanese colonial period, egrets often gathered here, so the area was renamed Lucun; in 1970 it was split into two villages, Xianglu and Dongxing. Because "Xianglu" sounds like "Shanglu" in Hokkien, it was renamed Xiangxing in 1993. The 8/7 Flood of 1959 destroyed Xiangxing's farmland, which was later redeveloped into a residential area. The private Daming Junior High School, founded in 1964, was Dali's earliest secondary school; from 2025, Daming Senior High School will move its entire campus to Tanzi. In 2002, Dongxing Village's population grew too large, so it was further split into Daming and Yonglong Villages.
