Everyday life here
The southern end of this neighborhood is the Daqing Night Market on Jianguo South Road Section 1, planned by the team behind the Hanxi Night Market. Under the elevated railway beside the night market stands the Chonglun Bunker, a square reinforced-concrete structure with machine-gun ports on three sides; according to local elders it was built no later than around 1949, and it's now a historic building.

Heading north is Chonglun Junior High School, and beyond that is Banpingcuo Park in Xichuan Village. "Banpingcuo" is an old place name for this area — from the late Qing dynasty through the early Japanese colonial period it was "Banpingcuo Zhuang," covering parts of both Xichuan Village and Chonglun Village. In March 2026, the Chongren Activity Center in Xichuan Village put up a sign reading "Banpingcuo LOHAS Base".
Real estate platforms often lump the Daqing Night Market in with the Daqing neighborhood — 5168's Daqing neighborhood page lists it as an amenity. Daqing Station and Chung Shan Medical University fall into the neighboring "Daqing/Chung Shan Medical University" neighborhood to the south, whose school zone is Shude Elementary School and Shuyi Elementary School; this neighborhood's school zone is Dayong Elementary School and Heping Elementary School.
Living here
A report from late 2025 says the Daqing Night Market operates Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from evening until midnight. There's no station inside the neighborhood itself; Wuquan Station and Daqing Station sit about 480 and 730 meters from the neighborhood boundary, respectively.
Before you move in
This neighborhood has fewer than 30 street photo sampling grid cells, not enough for a score to support a ranking, so no rank is given here.
The Mountain Line railway runs elevated through the southern part of the neighborhood. The 13th Daqing Redevelopment Zone next door to the west is still mostly vacant land; OSM tags it as brownfield and construction sites, with only 3 buildings so far.
"Banpingcuo" is a place name shared by both villages, and it's also used by the Xichuan Village community; we couldn't find a conventional name that groups Chonglun and Xichuan together as one area, so this neighborhood's boundaries are simply a curated grouping.
The story of this area
From the late Qing dynasty through the early Japanese colonial period, Banpingcuo was a street-village called Banpingcuo Zhuang, under the jurisdiction of Lanxing Bao; in 1920 it was reorganized as an oaza (a Japanese-era administrative district), and after the war it was incorporated into South District and became a village. The Chonglun Bunker was rediscovered in 2008 during community tree-planting and greening work, and was urgently designated a historic building in 2010; the railway elevation project even had to adjust its pier placement as a result.
