01First impressions

Jinhua Road runs south to north through this neighborhood, about 3.5 kilometers of it inside, with homes, schools, and markets lining both sides. Lixing Elementary School sits right on this road; its Little League baseball team was formed in 1988 and has represented Taiwan in competitions many times since. For groceries there's Hezuo Market, Yixin Market, and Shijiawang Market, and for healthcare there's the Jinhua Main Branch of Tai'an Hospital. Head west to Shuangshi Road and the streetscape changes to a large stretch of cultural and educational land: the Taichung Broadcasting Bureau, which opened in 1935, the Taichung Confucius Temple, completed in 1976, and an athletics field that can hold 25,000 people.

02What works

Greenery ranks 5th among Taichung's 47 neighborhoods, the best ranking this neighborhood has. Jingwu Station is a simple elevated station that opened in 2018 and is served only by local trains, with about 3,200 average daily riders in 2025. Public transit ranks 10th, and Taiyuan Station is also about 470 meters outside the neighborhood.

03Heads-up

This neighborhood is made up of five li from East District and seven li from North District. In East District, locals typically divide the li into two groups: "Chetou" and "Hanxi." Dongshi, Hezuo, and Dongnan belong to Hanxi, while Furen and Futai belong to Chetou. Futai Li had only 1,828 residents at the end of 2025, making it the least populous li in East District. On the Shuangshi Road side, much of Leying Li's land is taken up by Taichung Baseball Field, Taichung Stadium, and the main campus of National Taiwan University of Sport, so there aren't many homes there.

04A bit of history

In 1932, Taichung Prefecture planned Shuiyuandi Park; the Broadcasting Bureau opened in 1935, and the athletics field and baseball field were built in 1937. In 1942, Taichung Shrine was moved to Shuiyuandi Park; after the war it became the Martyrs' Shrine, and it was rebuilt in its current form in 1970. In 1961, the stadium was completed as the Taiwan Provincial Stadium, and the Confucius Temple was built next to it in 1976. In 1988, Lixing Elementary School formed its Little League baseball team. In 2018, Jingwu Station opened.

How are these measured?

Compared against the Taichung neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
