Local guide

01First impressions

Wuhua Street is another shortcut connecting Sanchong to Luzhou, lined with shop after shop along the way. Right next to it, Bihua Street is Sanchong's famous fabric street. In the southeast of the neighbourhood, near National Highway No. 1, the Renyi section is a redevelopment zone that used to be industrial land.

02What works

The street environment ranks 9th among New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, and walking through the lanes here is pretty comfortable. The sidewalks rank 10th, making everyday walking relatively comfortable too.

03Heads-up

There's currently no MRT station within the neighbourhood—the nearest one, Sanhe Junior High School Station, is about 400 metres to the southwest, already counted as part of another neighbourhood. Public transport ranks 37th among New Taipei's 40 neighbourhoods, so you'll need to budget extra time for buses or riding a scooter/bike. Daily convenience ranks 37th too, meaning you'll need to travel a bit further than other neighbourhoods for everyday shopping.

04A bit of history

Bihua Street was at its most prosperous around the 1970s and 1980s, when more than two hundred fabric shops lined the single street. Back then, shop owners and workers carried bolts of cloth together for deliveries, jokingly calling themselves 'cloth oxen' for working as hard as cattle. Later, as the industry moved elsewhere, only about sixty fabric shops remained, and Bihua Elementary School principal Cai Baojun led the push to transform the fabric street into the Taiwan Cloth Merchants Museum Park. Bihua Elementary School itself is located within the neighbourhood, in Fufu Village. To the southeast, the Renyi section is a 22.28-hectare self-organised redevelopment zone on the north side of National Highway No. 1, bordering Wuhua Street, Zizhang Road, Renyi Street, and Longmen Road.

05What's coming

The northern section of the Circular Line will add two underground stations along Jixian Road, at the northern edge of the neighbourhood. Station Y22 sits between Wuhua Street and Ruyi Street, while Station Y23 is in front of Wuhua Elementary School. The New Taipei Metro Corporation expects the northern section to be completed by 2031, and as of August 2026 both stations are still building diaphragm walls.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighbourhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
