A few steps from school to the park and the library, with Minzu Road tying Shuinan's old streets together
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Ren'ai Elementary School is at No. 488 Minzu Road. From its gate, Ren'ai Plaza Park is about 160 metres away as the crow flies, and the Lin Jiansheng Memorial Library about 350 metres. A PX Mart is a little over two hundred metres away, and there are several Simple Mart shops in this neighborhood, so everyday essentials are close at hand.
Daily life in Shuinan follows Minzu Road. Shaped like a backwards C, it is the main road through the Shuinan area. The other main road, Shuinan Street, links Minzu Road with Lane 101 of Ren'ai Street.
For the school run, Ren'ai Elementary School's catchment covers Baoxin (lin 1–8), Shuihe, Shuinan and Zhongxiao villages, plus Ren'ai and Fuxing villages outside this neighborhood. All four villages in this neighborhood are included, while lin (neighborhood units) 9–12 of Baoxin Village belong to Zhongyi Elementary School.
For trips into Taipei, Luzhou Station, the terminus of the Zhonghe-Xinlu Line, is inside this neighborhood.
North of Luzhou Station, towards Huandi Boulevard, real-estate listings describe the land as mostly sheet-metal factories and farmland. The expropriation of the farmland zone there is still under review, and the page says there are no large developer projects at present.
Healthcare ranks 72nd among New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods, towards the lower end. For the wider "Luzhou North" area that includes this one (it is larger than this neighborhood), real-estate listings also name the drawbacks as no large medical facilities, a high share of old buildings, limited parking, and congestion on Minzu Road and Guangrong Road at rush hour.
Public transport ranks 54th, toward the lower end of the middle tier. Although Luzhou Station is inside this neighborhood, the station sits right on its boundary, about 570 metres in a straight line from Ren'ai Elementary School.
In the Qianlong era of the Qing dynasty, Mei Fu, a monk from the Zhuqian City God Temple, was granted the right to collect rent in grain around Shuinan, which is why Luzhou was also called Heshangcuo, "the monk's house". On maps in the Tamsui Subprefecture Gazetteer, large amounts of rush (salt grass) were grown around Shuinan at the time, and "Xiancaopu", salt-grass plain, may be one of Luzhou's old names.
In modern times, Shuinan Street started out as just a few lanes, Lanes 375 and 490 of Minzu Road and Lane 91 of Minquan Road, and was only renamed Shuinan Street in 1999.
Ren'ai Elementary School's land was zoned for a school in the urban plan as early as 1973. In 1988 the county government decided to found a fourth elementary school to ease the double-shift system at Lujiang Elementary School; it took its first pupils in September 1991, holding classes at Lujiang Elementary School at first, and moved in that November once part of the school building was finished.
Compared with the 100 New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide (scores 0–10)
NHI-contracted hospitals, public elementary and junior high schools whose catchment covers this area (estimated from the New Taipei City Education Department's 2026 school-year catchment lists, treating every neighborhood in a village as equal in size; "Shared catchment" marks a free-choice zone where families can pick between two or more schools), high schools and universities within 1 km, stations, parks of 1 ha or more (OpenStreetMap), and large shopping malls and department stores (OpenStreetMap).
Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
