Mornings for groceries at Zhonghou Market, evenings for dinner at Zhangshu Night Market
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Living in Zhangshuwan, your morning grocery run and your evening meal both happen near the primary school. Zhonghou Market is the area's traditional morning market, selling fresh produce and household goods, and it is in Houde Village, the same village as the school. Zhangshuwan Night Market is also in this neighborhood; in 2022 the city opened 81 free scooter spaces beside Zhangshu 2nd Road precisely because the school, the night market and the community activity centre are close by.
Zhangshu Elementary School is on Lane 141, Zhangshu 1st Road, with the Keelung River along its north side. Real-estate listings call this Xizhi's gateway to Nangang in Taipei City, a 5 to 7 minute drive from Nangang and Donghu.
The streetscape is this neighborhood's strength: cleanliness ranks 7th, buildings 10th and greenery 10th, all three in the upper tier of New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods. Listings also mention the riverside embankment path along the Keelung River, for walking and cycling.
For school, Zhangshu Elementary School and Zhangshu International Experimental Innovation High School are both in this neighborhood, and listings say the two together can cover all 12 years of schooling. Zhongxiao and Houde villages, plus neighborhood units (lin) 1–5 and 12–14 of Zhangshu Village, are in the Zhangshu Elementary School catchment, while lin 6–8 and 10–11 of Zhangshu Village belong to Beifeng Elementary School.
Daily shopping ranks 69th and healthcare 75th, both in the lower tier of New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods. For fast-food chains and supermarkets, listings say you will need to ride or walk a fair way.
There is an industrial area inside this neighborhood: listings say Zhangshuwan takes in part of the Zhangshuwan Industrial Zone, mostly metal products, machinery and electronics; office-and-factory buildings cluster around it.
Zhangshu Village itself has a ready-mixed concrete plant and a cement products factory. After the Kangning Street freeway ramp opened, as many as 19 concrete lorries were counted on Zhangshu 2nd Road in one peak half-hour; for the safety of children on the way to school, 15-tonne lorries are now banned from 7:00–8:30 and 16:00–17:30.
Public transport ranks 88th; listings put the nearest Taiwan Railway station, Xike Station, about 5 to 10 minutes away on foot or by a short ride. Work on the Xidong Line began in March 2025 with completion expected in 2032, and a Zhangshuwan Station is planned. At peak times, listings say Datong Road Section 1 and Kangning Street get congested.
Residents of the Zhangshu area campaigned for a primary school; land for it was expropriated from 1987, the school was named Haotian Elementary School the following year and renamed Zhangshu Elementary School in 1990.
Zhangshuwan sits right beside the Keelung River and used to flood. Since the Yuanshanzi Flood Diversion Channel was completed in 2005, Xizhi has had almost no major flooding.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
