An evening lap of Jinlong Lake, and children walking to Jinlong Elementary
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Living in Jinlong, your evening walk is around Jinlong Lake. The lake covers about 13.4 hectares, with a footpath all the way round it. Real-estate listings say residents often walk and jog along the path in the early morning and at dusk.
Less than 1 km southwest of the lake is Jinlong Elementary School, beside Mingfeng Street. Real-estate listings say parents feel comfortable letting their children walk to school.
Grocery shopping is close by too. Real-estate listings say Jinlong Market has fresh fish, meat and cooked food from early morning, and once the market closes there are still PX Mart, Simple Mart and Carrefour.
The base catchment of Jinlong Elementary School covers six villages, Beifeng, Jinlong, Huguang, Hulian, Huxing and Beishan, plus neighborhood units (lin) 1 to 5 of Huanhe Village.
In our street photos, out of 100 neighborhoods in New Taipei, this one ranks 11th for litter and street cleanliness, 28th for buildings and 30th for greenery, all in the upper tier. Real-estate listings say Jinlong Park and Beifeng Park are where residents go for everyday walks and exercise.
The neighborhood sits right next to the Xizhi Interchange on National Freeway No. 1, and several bus routes run to Nangang and Neihu; real-estate listings say many families who work in those two districts live here.
The biggest drawback is the lack of an MRT. Real-estate listings say there is no MRT station in the neighborhood, so reaching the MRT means taking a bus first. Public transport ranks 87th, healthcare 85th and daily shopping 73rd, all three in the lower tier.
Kangning Street has been widened, but the estates down Lane 751 house nearly 3,000 households, so the mouth of the lane still jams at peak hours. Real-estate listings also warn that homes near the hills and the lake can be damp.
Jinlong Lake is not a natural lake. Its old names were Jiangtou Pond and Xiangtou Pond: a man-made pond dug to store water from Beifeng Creek for irrigation.
Water from the lake flows on into the Keelung River, and the lake still helps with flood control in the rainy season. On the hillside between the lake's arms stands Beifeng Temple, the centre of worship for residents around Shehou.
National Freeway No. 1 runs through the middle of Xizhi and blocks north–south traffic. The New Taipei City New Construction Office is building the Tongxing Road underpass, from the south side of the freeway through to Mingfeng Street on the north side; one aim is to let residents on both sides walk through it to the Xidong Line.
With the underpass 59.3% complete, the New Construction Office terminated the contract in March 2026 because the contractor could no longer carry out the work, and planned to re-tender at the end of May. The Xidong Line is targeted for completion in 2032.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
