01First impressions

The area around Nerima-Kasugacho Station is a quiet residential neighborhood, with a Summit Store supermarket and the City-run Kasugacho Library near the station.

Walking south from the station to the southern edge of the neighborhood brings you to Tokyo Metropolitan Nerima Castle Site Park, which used to be the amusement park Toshimaen. In May 2023 three areas opened first: the garden, the entrance exchange area, and the riverside walkway; the park still has earthen ramparts from Nerima Castle dating from the Kamakura to Muromachi periods.

About 30,000 people lived in this neighborhood in 2020, roughly 145 people per hectare.

02What works

Nerima-Kasugacho Station is on the Toei Oedo Line, opened on December 10, 1991; it's 1.4 km to Hikarigaoka and 1.5 km to Toshimaen. In fiscal 2024 about 23,000 people boarded or alighted here each day.

On real estate listing pages, every listing in Kasugacho 3-chome through 6-chome is tagged as Nerima-Kasugacho Station, and all 10 listings in Takamatsu 1-chome are also tagged with this station. Of the 19 listings in Kasugacho 1-chome, 8 are tagged as Toshimaen Station.

The Kanpachi, Metropolitan Route 441, and Metropolitan Route 443 all run through Kasugacho, and there are bus routes operated by Kokusai Kogyo and Seibu. From our street photos, greenery ranks 146th out of 395 neighborhoods in Tokyo, the highest-ranked of this neighborhood's categories, landing in the middle range.

03Heads-up

From our street photos, public transit ranks 322nd out of 395 neighborhoods in Tokyo, and convenience of daily life ranks 311th; both fall in the lower range.

04A bit of history

Kasugacho takes its name from Kasuga Shrine. This area was originally the center of Kami-Nerima Village, with the village office located here.

When Tokyo City was established in 1932, this area was incorporated into Itabashi City as Nerima-Kasugacho 1-chome and 2-chome; "Nerima" was dropped in 1949, leaving just Kasugacho. The current 1-chome through 6-chome divisions came about with the residential address system implemented in 1967.

05What's coming

The section of Nerima Castle Site Park south of the Shakujii River, on the site of the former Toshimaen pool, is scheduled to open in fiscal 2029; that section is already outside this neighborhood. The park's planned total area is about 26.66 hectares.

How are these measured?

Compared against the Tokyo neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
