Kindergarten drop-off downstairs in the social housing block, and weekend stock-ups at the hypermarkets across Jiuzong Road
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Jiuzong Road Section 1 and Xingshan Road each have a social housing block: Xingshan Social Housing with 526 units and Jiuzong Social Housing with 97. Both have a kindergarten on site, and Xingshan Social Housing also has a long-term care centre and an activity centre for older residents, so picking up the children or keeping older relatives company doesn't mean leaving the building. For a big weekend shop, cross Jiuzong Road Section 1 and head west; real-estate listings often describe that side as a shopping district packed with hypermarkets.
Weekday groceries don't need that much of a trip: there is a PX Mart on the east side of this neighborhood, and about 300 metres south-west of it is Wenxin Park.
In our street photos, cleanliness ranks 3rd, buildings 3rd and greenery 4th, all in the upper tier among Taipei's 73 neighborhoods. Sidewalks rank 18th, also in the upper tier.
Primary school is simple too: all of Huyuan Village is in the Xinhu Elementary School catchment, and it is the only one. Xinhu Elementary School itself is in Huxing Village to the east, outside this neighborhood.
This area was not originally residential. Most of the land in the Jiuzong section was zoned for light industry, and a wave of industrial office buildings went up in 1997 and 1998; a city government analysis from around 2006 says most of them were being used as corporate headquarters at the time.
The same analysis says the land west of Jiuzong Road Section 1 was mainly hypermarkets and big-box stores, while some industrial land on the east side served as depots for bus companies. The hypermarket side is outside this neighborhood, but in daily life it is right next door.
There is no MRT station in this neighborhood. Public transport ranks 70th, close to the bottom among Taipei's 73 neighborhoods. There is a PX Mart for daily shopping, but everyday convenience overall ranks only 66th, in the lower tier.
After the Keelung River was straightened, the whole planning area was slated for a shopping and leisure centre, a low-pollution high-tech industrial park, a logistics centre and a model riverside residential community. The southern Jiuzong section was given industrial land for warehousing, with most of it zoned for light industry; under pressure to develop within a deadline, a wave of industrial office buildings finally went up in 1997 and 1998.
Homes came later on the same land: Jiuzong Social Housing is at No. 185, Jiuzong Road Section 1, and Xingshan Social Housing at No. 266, Xingshan Road.
Station Y35 on the Circular Line Eastern Section is planned for the junction of Jiuzong Road Section 1 and Xinhu 1st Road, inside this neighborhood. The Eastern Section's comprehensive plan was approved in March 2023, and an August 2026 update from Taipei's Department of Rapid Transit Systems puts the expected completion year at 2034.

NHI-contracted hospitals, public elementary and junior high schools whose catchment covers this area (estimated from the 2026 school-year village/neighborhood catchment table, treating every neighborhood in a village as equal in size; "Shared catchment" means families there can choose between two or more schools), high schools and universities within 1 km, stations, parks of 1 ha or more, and large shopping malls and department stores.
Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
