01First impressions

In this neighborhood, buying groceries means a trip along Section 3 of Chengtai Road. Shops line both sides of the road in one long stretch, and real-estate listings describe it as one of Wugu's busiest shopping streets.

Along the road there's the long-established Chengzhou Market for fresh produce, as well as PX Mart, a Carrefour supermarket and Simple Mart. The listings place the core of the area around Chengzhou Elementary School, with Lingyun Road as the other main road besides Section 3 of Chengtai Road.

Plenty of people live here too: Chengtai Village had 15,122 residents at the end of 2025, the most of any village in Wugu. This is Wugu's old town, and the listings say most residents are locals with deep roots here.

02What works

Chengzhou Elementary School's base catchment takes in all of Chengzhou and Chengde villages; Chengtai and Chenggong villages share theirs with Wugu Elementary School. For everyday shopping, this neighborhood ranks 49th out of 100 neighborhoods in New Taipei, in the middle.

From our street-view photos, sidewalks rank 10th, near the top, and that's this neighborhood's best-ranked category. For walks there's Chenggong Sports Park and Chengzhou Park; a bigger green space, Zhouziyang Park, lies right on the southern edge of the neighborhood.

Cross Chenglu Bridge to the east and you're in Luzhou; with just one bridge in between, the listings say, everyday life here reaches a lot further.

03Heads-up

There's no MRT here: public transport ranks 93rd out of 100 neighborhoods in New Taipei, and real-estate listings also say there's no MRT station in the neighborhood, so cars and scooters are the main way to get around, with buses mostly running along Chengtai Road. Healthcare ranks 73rd, toward the bottom.

The listings also say this is a long-established old town, so the share of new blocks is low, and there's a large cemetery on the western side to bear in mind when house-hunting. Greenery ranks 56th, in the middle.

04A bit of history

In 1946 Wugu Zhuang became Wugu Township, with ten villages under it, and Chengzhou Village was one of them.

Today the area is divided into four villages: Chengtai, Chenggong, Chengzhou and Chengde. Wugu's commercial life is concentrated along Chengtai Road, and Chengtai Village has grown into the most populous village in the district.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
