01First impressions

Living in Dingpu, your days split between two sides. Along Zhongyang Road Section 4 is the old town, where real-estate listings say there is no shortage of snack shops and markets, and groceries come from the Dingpu Evening Market.

The other side is the Yunxiao land readjustment zone around the MRT station, roughly bounded by Zhongyang Road Section 4 to the north, Danuan Road to the east and National Freeway No. 3 to the south. Listings say new developments are concentrated here and the streets look tidier than in the old town, drawing young families and people working in tech.

For a walk or a ride, head north-west to the Dahan River, where there is Mazutian Riverside Park and a cycle path; in the residential streets there are also basketball courts at Dingpu Triangle Park. For school, Dingpu Elementary School is right on Zhongyang Road Section 4.

02What works

The Bannan Line reached Dingpu Station on 6 July 2015, and because this is the end of the line, listings say it is easier to get a seat at peak times. Since 30 June 2026 the Sanying Line has also started from here, running to Yingtao Fude Station.

Public transport ranks 35th of New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods, in the middle tier. The Dingpu Elementary School catchment covers four villages, Dingpu, Dingfu, Dingxin and Peibei, plus Zutian Village in the hills.

03Heads-up

Daily shopping ranks 70th, healthcare 78th, and in our street photos pavements rank 73rd, all in the lower tier. Listings also say Dingpu has no large shopping centre, so for that you take the MRT to Tucheng or Banqiao.

Zhongyang Road Section 4 is the main road in and out and carries heavy traffic at peak times; homes near National Freeway No. 3 and the technology park may get traffic noise and lorries. With Dingpu at the far end of the Bannan Line, the commute to Taipei Main Station is on the long side.

04A bit of history

From the late Qing period into the early Japanese era, Dingpu was called Dingpu Zhuang and belonged to Baijie Bao; in 1920 it became an oaza (a Japanese-era unit) of Tucheng Zhuang in Haishan District.

After the Tucheng Industrial Park was developed in the 1970s, Tucheng moved from farming to industry and drew a large number of newcomers. The Dingpu Science and Technology Park beside Zhongyang Road Section 4 stands on the former site of the Army Transportation School, and the companies that later moved in include Cheng Uei, Dbtel and Foxconn.

05What's coming

The Sanying Line was free to ride along its whole length during the trial period until the end of August, and the New Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems announced fares from 1 September, starting at NT$20 and capped at NT$35. Dingpu Station has gone from being the end of the Bannan Line to a place where two lines meet.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
