A hilly, green residential area, with cherry trees lining the Tamagawa River
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
The Tokyu Tamagawa Line is only 5.6 kilometers long with 7 stations, running three-car Local trains that stop at every station. The platform at Unoki Station only fits three cars, and the up and down platforms each have their own ticket gates. Get off the train and walk west and you're at the Tamagawa River, its bank lined with a long row of cherry trees.
The eastern edge of the neighborhood runs along Kanpachi-dori (Loop Road 8), with Tamazutsumi-dori running north-south through the middle. The residential area is dotted with small factories, and quite a few old wooden houses still remain.
This neighborhood covers Unoki 1-chome through 3-chome, with about 14,000 residents in 2020, or about 234 people per hectare.

Unoki has undulating terrain, and the area centered on Unoki Matsuyama Park is one of Ota City's designated "Green Bases". Along the Kokubunji Cliff Line, the old Rokugo Yosui walking path runs east-west; some parts of the residential area still retain groves of trees around old estates.
This neighborhood is small in area, with only 35 street-photo grid cells used for scoring, so read the rankings with caution.
Public transit ranks 276th out of 395 neighborhoods in Tokyo, and daily shopping ranks 270th, both toward the bottom. Tamazutsumi-dori used to have the "Mori 10" bus route, but after it stopped running in 1993, no buses have passed through the neighborhood since. The only station is Unoki Station, with neighboring stations Shimomaruko 0.6 kilometers away and Numabe 1.1 kilometers away.
TidyMap ran its own estimate, taking points roughly every 40 meters within the neighborhood on the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's flood inundation hazard map. About 80% of the points fall within the flood-prone area: a little over 40% are in the 3-to-5-meter range, and about 30% are in the 0.5-to-3-meter range. Nearly all of 2-chome and 3-chome fall within the hazard area, while about half of 1-chome does.

According to the Edo-period gazetteer Shinpen Musashi Fudoki Ko, the village name came from the Unomori Myojin shrine in the village. Komyoji Temple in the neighborhood is said to have been founded by Gyoki and later restored by Kukai during the Konin era.
In 1889, Unoki Village was merged into Chofu Village; in 1928, Chofu Village was reorganized as Higashi-Chofu Town; in 1932 it was incorporated into Omori Ward of Tokyo City; and in 1947 it became part of Ota City. The address was reorganized (jukyo hyoji) in 1971, creating the present-day Unoki 1-chome through 3-chome. In 2000, the Meguro-Kamata Line was split, and this section became the Tokyu Tamagawa Line.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
