A quiet residential strip between river and hills, with Wanxing Elementary below and the NCCU Phase 2 housing zone up the hill
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
The area around National Chengchi University (NCCU) is quiet and secluded, bordered by the Jingmei River to the north and the hills of Maokong to the south. Daytime life revolves around the NCCU main gate on Zhinan Road Section 2, where the supermarkets and small clinics are. After 10pm, most shops close and the whole street goes quiet. Housing is split into two tiers along the slope: at the bottom of the hill, Xiuming Road and Xinguang Road Section 1 are lined with walk-ups and high-rises, extending to Wanxing Elementary School. Heading up Wanshou Road, you'll find the housing in the land readjustment zone known locally as "NCCU Phase 2".
Nearly all the housing on both the upper and lower tiers falls within the Wanxing Elementary School zone, with the elementary school at the bottom of the hill and NCCU Affiliated Senior High School up top. Most of NCCU's main campus lies outside the southern border of the neighborhood; only a strip on its northern edge, along Zhinan Road Section 2, falls inside. The Zhinan Campus by Wanshou Road used to be a Ministry of National Defense base, not transferred to NCCU until 2015, and it is surrounded by housing. With the riverbank and hills right nearby, this neighborhood ranks 10th for greenery among Taipei's 73 neighborhoods.
There's no MRT station in the neighborhood yet. The nearest one, Taipei Zoo Station on the Wenhu Line, is about 0.5 km outside the northern border, a 15 to 20 minute walk away, so public transit here only ranks 68th. Most people get around by bus, with the Roosevelt Road Trunk Line and Xinyi Trunk Line as options. There's no large traditional market inside the neighborhood—grocery shopping means a roughly 5-minute drive to Muzha Market just outside the boundary, so everyday shopping ranks last. For a major hospital, it's an 8 to 10 minute drive to Wanfang Hospital.
NCCU was re-established in Taiwan in 1954, and later chose Ministry of Education land in Muzha as its campus site. In 1986, the Taipei Zoo also moved here, to Xinguang Road Section 2 to the north, after its original site in Yuanshan proved impossible to expand.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
